Jethro, a K-9 of Canton Police Department in Ohio passed away last January 2016 upon responding to a burglary of a grocery store. The police dog was been shoot multiple times that cause its death.
Kelontre Barefield, 23 years old, the suspect of this nefarious occurrence, has been sentenced to 45 years imprisonment for pleading guilty of killing the police dog and also guilty for other unrelated robbery charges that were well-searched from the past years.
Canton PD Officer Ryan Davis, Jethro’s partner for 3 years, mourns too much for losing his police dog. Davis was the one who took care of Jethro since it was an 8 weeks old puppy and still on the training. He felt devastated for losing such smart and a good partner.
Davis came across a letter that was sent to him. He was touched by a girl named Allison, 11-year-old, who donated her allowance last March 2016. She wanted to give all of her allowances to help buy bulletproofs vest for all the dogs in the department to keep them safe to any operations that they may encounter. Allison sent her condolences for Jethro, and does not want any other dog to suffer the same faith again.
This only shows that even dogs know what good and bad things are. They were capable of thinking and they should be respected and treated as human too. And this would make us realized that not only human could save a life of others or protect people, dogs too!
