An Idaho bus driver was fired when a viral video of her confronting and pouring water on a Spanish student surfaced online. Mary Black is now jobless after her racial humiliation with an eighth grader Miguel Martinez.
In the video caught by Brayan Alverez, who was in the same bus with the victim, Black accused Martinez of throwing a bottled water. She then started humiliating the student when he attempted to talk in Spanish. The furious lady driver stressed out, “I don’t understand Spanish. I’m not going to learn it. I live in America and it’s an English-speaking country. So if you want to speak to me, speak to me in English.”
Some students also claimed that Black would yell at any student who don’t speak English while on her bus and she would turn off the bus’ camera to show no evidence. Juan Espino, a parent, also confirmed the strict English-only language in the bus. He added that he already contacted the bus company regarding Black’s language protocol, but was his concerns were not initially addressed. However, through this video, Black’s actions were quickly dealt with not just with the bus company, but also with netizens.
The video prompted outrage from parents, but there were also some individuals in support for Mary Black.
