For a dog without a stable home for almost 3 months, there will be no other perfect gift than to have a forever home with a happy family.
After buying a new house in Waterford Township, Michigan, Dan Tillery and his girlfriend, Megan Rose Long, decided to adopt a dog. They went to Detroit Dog Rescue’s no-kill shelter and found Diggy quickly where they called to be love-at-first-sight upon seeing his sweet face on a photo.
Tillery brings Diggy back home and he found him as the happiest dog he had ever seen. When they had taken their first selfie together and uploaded it on the internet, everyone feels fantastic upon seeing a smiling happy dog, with the entire grin on their both faces.
Take note that Diggy even love watching television and Ellen DeGeneres is his favorite star.
Tillery treated Diggy as his best buddy until the day that quite disturbs their happiness. A police went to their house to look for Diggy after hearing complaints that the dog was illegal under the city’s breed ban; a long-standing ban on pit bulls. They have said that Diggy’s physical characteristics are not allowed in the city, and Tillery must find Diggy a new home after three days.
Despite the warning, Tillery never gave up on Diggy. Instead of looking for Diggy’s another family, he decided to look for a veterinarian to confirm Diggy’s type, and luckily, the vet who examined Diggy said that he appeared to be an American bulldog. Aside from the vet’s confirmation, more than 110,000 people also signed a petition to retain Diggy from his home and for Waterford Township to junk their pit bulls ban. A lot of pitbull lovers also asking the same thing as it greatly affect them with the said ordinance.
During the fight for Diggy’s detainment, finally they have won! Just this August, the town did make changes to its ordinance. The ban remains yet dogs deemed pit bulls by the city may now be examined by a township approved veterinarian, at the owner’s expense. When the said veterinarian says the dog is something other than a pit, then they may allow in the city with their owners.
Diggy’s family feels overjoyed for the decision. At last they may now keep him without hindrances and they can always see the smiles he gives each day. The people who petitioned also congratulate Diggy and Tillery for winning their battle. Now, Diggy is happy as he ever was, together with Dan and Megan who showed him love.
The city ordinance is still on the fight with other pit lovers as they considered it as an unfair and inconsistent law for all of them who love town-forbidden-dogs.
