Special moments are even more special when everyone we loved is there, celebrating the happiness with us. Charlie Bear, a black Labrador breed who has a brain tumor, was able to attend his bestfriend special occasion despite his suffering. He was there and he made it!
Kelly O’Connell met Charlie Bear when she was still working at an animal shelter while studying to become a veterinarian. Charlie was only 12 weeks when Kelly discovered him abandoned outside a grocery store and brought into the center for a temporary shelter. She saw him special and decided to adopt the cute black little puppy. Despite the fact that Kelly was still with her parents that time, it never stops her from getting Charlie, because she knew that they were meant to be together.
After graduating, Kelly and Charlie never been apart from each other and moved to various places together. In 2010, she fell in love with her fellow veterinarian James Garvin where they moved in, together with Charlie, and live with his two sons. The two then decided to get married.
Everything was just fine and they were happy, until such time that they discovered Charlie Bear having a brain tumor and was about to leave them sooner. A week before the wedding, he suffered five seizures and though that he can never attend the wedding. His 15-year-old body sometimes cannot endure the pain.
During the wedding day, September 1, 2016, Charlie Bear was able walked down the aisle and spend time with Kelly on her special day. He even seemed to smile as he was looking into them and other guests. When it was time to walk back, Charlie can no longer summon the strength he had, so, Kelly’s sister and Maid of Honor, Katie O’Connell, bent down and lifted the 80-pound dog into her arms. Everyone was crying as they saw the overwhelming moment. Katie carried Charlie all the way down the aisle and never leaves him, as the groomsman walked one of the couple’s other five dogs by their side.
Charlie Bear made it. Kelly get close to him telling him that he made it! He made to be with her on their very special day.
On the 9th of September, Charlie Bear bid goodbye to his family. He peacefully fell asleep surrounded by the family in front of their fireplace. They were grateful for having him in their lives and Charlie Bear will be forever in their heart.
